Beings from the Deep
Kai Larson (17) lived in a small town next to the coast of North Carolina. Sometime in August 2006, the local fish market had permanently closed. It didn’t make any sense to Larson, because that specific business was extremely profitable compared to the other stores in town, as the owner, Mr. Chambers (50s), was able to get large amounts of fish every time he went out to sea. He got his answer on a night five days after the market closed.
As he was biking along the street along the coast, Larson stopped and noticed a group of silhouettes on the beach illuminated by the moon. He was able to make out Chambers standing right at the edge of the water, as small waves lapped at his ankles. The other silhouettes in the water were unrecognizable, large and hunched over with ridges on their backs, scales across their limbs and heads that resembled a mix between fish and frog. As they stood silently in the water, Mr. Chambers took off his clothes before them, revealing the same back ridges and scales the creatures had across his naked body. As Larson stared down at the beach, processing what he had just seen, Mr. Chambers walked into the water with the creatures and the group forever disappeared into the ocean.
